Spring is upon us and that means that longer days and warmer weather are fast approaching. That’s going to open the door to a lot of activities that, while possible to do in the colder weather, are much more enjoyable and pursued by most in the warmer months such as kayaking, paddle boarding and surfing.
While it’s good to own your own gear most of what you need for any of the above can be rented. These are sports that you can enjoy by yourself or out with a group of friends. If you’ve never done any of these activities but are interested in trying, renting or reaching out to a friend who has equipment you can borrow is a great way to test the water before making an investment. But once you’ve decided that any or all of these are something you enjoy and want to pursue they are investments that will pay dividends for years to come.
Gear for any of these water sports can be purchased new or used. If you decide to go the used route then you have many options including Facebook marketplace, craigslist, local yard sales and many others. I would start by contacting your local outfitters to see if they have any deals on purchasing prior years rentals. If you decide to purchase new then you could go to a brick and mortar such as REI or even purchase online from a marketplace like Amazon.
In this upcoming series of blog posts we will address each of them individually - kayaking, paddle boarding and surfing and cover what you need, where to get the best deals and the best places and times to go. Not only are these sports some of the best ways to spend a beautiful spring, summer or fall afternoon or evening, but they can be incredibly relaxing as well.
Stay tuned.
Or water the plants....😂
