DIY upgraded shoe trees

Shoe trees are an important piece of kit if you have any interest in taking care of your shoes and boots, but there’s nothing enjoyable about trying to remove a shoe tree from a shoe or boot if you can’t get a grip on the shoe tree.

You can spend significantly more for shoe trees with handles or knobs, or, simply install them yourself.

One of the simplest home hacks, start with a pair of basic cedar shoe trees and using a drill, create a hole about 1/2” deep. Using standard drawer pulls and 3/4” 8x32 anchor screws, attach the draw pulls to the top of the rear of the cedar shoe tree.

A basic, unaltered cedar shoe tree.

Pre-drill your holes.

All you need to complete your project.

One done.

First set complete.

Easy to insert, easy to remove.

An easy DIY hack that works with any basic cedar shoe tree.

For literally a fraction of the cost, you now have high-end cedar shoe trees with knobs. And it takes no time at all to complete.
