Don’t be so fast to write-off that winter parka with the hood trimmed in fur. I mean, to each his own, but that fur trim on the outside of the hood isn’t necessarily some last-minute add-on some designer came up with for style points, it’s actually functional.
Think it’s not “manly” enough for guys to wear? Tell that to Arctic explorers and military special forces who rely on it in cold climates.
Real fur is certainly better than fake (and more expensive) but both either is better than none.
That fur trim around the outside of your parka or winter jacket hood will perform two functions for you, both of which will make you significantly more comfortable if your going to spend any time outside in cold weather. First, it will break up the air movement at the hood opening making it calmer and less “windy” in front of your face. Second, it will help trap in warmth keeping your face (and you) warmer.
