One of the true gems of Worcester is not only about great food, but about a great story.
Café Reyes, on Shrewsbury Street in Worcester (MA), is easily one of my favorite places. Whether you’re going for a Café con Leche or a Café Mocha, the Cubano or Pasteles... there is something for everyone whether you’re into pork, beef, chicken or vegetables, etc.
Everything is fresh and you can’t get much more traditional than bringing the bread for your Cubano straight up from Miami and making your own homemade plantain chips. It’s about as good as it gets.
But like I said, it’s not just about the food, it’s about the story. Café Reyes is associated with the Reyes House in Worcester. Cafe Reyes is a nonprofit. It’s the training center for residents and graduates of the Hector Reyes House, a treatment center for Latino men in recovery.
They are open every day from 7 AM until 3 PM so there are plenty of opportunities to grab an incredible breakfast or lunch made fresh for you all while supporting a wonderful cause.
If you don’t live around Worcester you owe it to yourself to visit next time you’re around or find yourself a Cuban restaurant near you and treat yourself. There’s nothing like a fresh Cubano and a few empanadas.
Cafe Reyes is bright, clean, warm and friendly. It’s great food made and served by great people.
