Foodventures

Living close to the city of Worcester has many benefits. One that’s an especially nice blessing for those who have an interest in “gastroexploration”, is the abundance of restaurants from which to choose.

I can be in the city in 20 minutes. Once there I have a wide variety of options to choose from covering everything from larger, fancier steak houses and seafood restaurants to smaller Italian scratch kitchens, homemade Mexican and gourmet coffee houses. I prefer the smaller local secrets that make traditional foods, in many cases homemade and you can’t get much fresher than that. In my quest to find the “best of the best” I’ve decided to try to eat my way around the world without ever leaving my city.

Afghan food from Pomir Grill.

So far I’ve found the best Cuban, Mexican and Italian along with some amazing Thai, Vietnamese, Lebanese , Indian and Afghani food, among others. Still to come... Brazilian, African, Puerto Rican and Jamaican... and then, who knows what I’ll find next. If you don’t live right outside of the city like I do odds are there’s a city or densely populated suburb within an hour or less of most people that should offer similar experiences.

Enchiladas with red, green and mole sauce from Sol of Mexico.

So what are you waiting for? Discover the freshest Shawarma, 5-star enchiladas or traditional pho. A world of flavors is waiting. Start your own gastro tour in a city near you!

Replying to

Nope. Weintraub’s, the last Jewish deli, permanently closed in 2019. 😞
